The Criminal Justice Professional (CJP) Certificate
Just as the A/CDTSP certificate prepares students for the LADC or CADAC credentials, the CJP certificate prepares students for the Certified Criminal Justice Professional (CCJP) credential. Students who have completed the A/CDTSP certificate may obtain the CJP by taking the following two courses, which provide an additional 90 educational hours in the area of Criminal Justice: Criminal Justice and Substance Abuse Treatment(systems-level) and Co-occurring Disorders and Criminal Justice Treatment (counseling techniques). The Criminal Justice and Substance Abuse Treatment course is accredited by the National Association of Forensic Counselors (NAFC). Upon passing the NAFC exam, students receive the Certified Criminal Justice Specialist (CCJS) credential.
In addition to the educational requirements, students should plan their practicum accordingly such that part of their practicum is conducted within the criminal justice setting. For the CJP certificate and the CCJP credential, students must have 200 hours of supervised practical training within the criminal justice system. Of these 200 hours, a minimum of 10 hours must be within each of the performance domains.
