The Co-occurring Disorders Professional (CDP) Certificate
Students who have completed the A/CDTSP certificate may obtain the CDP certificate by successfully completing the Co-occurring Disorders and Criminal Justice Treatment course, which provides 45 additional educational hours. As with the criminal justice specialty, students must engage in 200 hours of practicum supervised training working in the co-occurring disorders specialty area (the delivery of counseling services to individuals, families or groups with mental illness, substance abuse disorders, or co-occurring disorders).
The CCJP and CCDP credentials are administered by the MBSACC and students should contact that board for details on the work requirement and application process.
These credentials originate from the International Certification & Reciprocity Consortium/Alcohol and other Drug Abuse, Inc. (IC&RC). This consortium sets the international standards of practice in addiction counseling, prevention and clinical supervision through testing and credentialing of addiction professionals.
