About Us
The Online Graduate Certificate program in Women’s Leadership in a Global Perspective is the newest academic program being offered by the Center for Women in Politics and Public Policy at UMass Boston’s McCormack Graduate School of Policy Studies.
The Center has a long and accomplished history of administering the award-winning Women in Politics and Public Policy Graduate Certificate Program, which holds classes at the University of Massachusetts Boston campus. Since that program began almost 40 years ago, it has offered a rigorous academic curriculum to more than 700 women and served as a springboard to increasingly effective political activism, new and enhanced careers in non-profit or public service, and advanced graduate study.
Our new Online Graduate Certificate program is the next logical step in women’s civic activism and builds upon the growing interest in women’s leadership to train a new cohort of women leaders from the Global South and provide them with the theoretical knowledge necessary to succeed in civic life, as leaders of NGOs, and in appointed or elected public office.
The Center has historical success in preparing women in the fields of politics and public policy, a clear commitment to promoting women’s political participation and civic engagement worldwide, and access to world-class faculty.
By drawing on the expertise of faculty who come from a variety of countries targeted by this program, we are able to tailor our curriculum to suit the global political realities of our students. The Center is proud to be offering this new 18-credit Online Graduate Certificate program within the Public Policy and Public Affairs Department of the McCormack Graduate School at UMass Boston.
